Generally, our Kraft Paper and Fanfold Paper void fillers are the most cost-effective options for everyday shipping. They’re inexpensive, versatile, recyclable and work well for filling empty space and preventing movement. Another low-cost option we supply is Packaging Peanuts, which are quick to use and economical for high-volume packing.

Our paper-based alternatives, like our Honeycomb Paper and Sleeves, have a slightly higher cost compared to Kraft paper but are more efficient for wrapping and protecting lighter or more delicate items and can reduce overall material usage. 

Can I combine different sustainable void fillers?

Combining different void fillers is a good idea but works best for specific packaging and product requirements. Combining void fillers offers several benefits, including both cushioning and filling empty spaces, avoiding over-packing with a single filler and to replace plastic with paper-based options entirely.

Many businesses combine fillers for cushioning and filling gaps, and for wrapping items. For example, you could use Honeycomb Paper for wrapping the products and then fill the gaps with Kraft Paper or Fanfold Paper. Combining different types of void fillers may not be suitable if you ship very fragile, high-value items, as this would benefit more from a single high-performance cushioning material rather than multiple lighter ones.
